Biography
Claire Watson currently lives on Gabriola Island with her husband Adam, and their two young children. She enjoys the closeness to nature, sense of community and lack of distraction that comes with island living. Any time out of the studio is spent sailing with her family and friends around the gulf islands.
An award winning illustrator, Claire initially created 'Chalk It Up Signs & Graphics' 8 years ago after the birth of their first daughter, but it has since taken over her life. Partnering up with her husband Adam, they have combined their talents and abilities to create over 500 unique chalk signs and menus for various establishments across North America (and even farther). She has also illustrated two books for Oxford University Press, and has done a variety of freelance design/illustration work including logos, fabric screen print designs, decals, print, packaging and website design.

It is only in the last few years that Claire has really begun to devote time own work. She is inspired by vibrant color and texture, and that is reflected in all her work. Being self taught, she enjoys the process of experimenting with many different mediums and styles. Her work is a myriad of her experiences and interests and she works in both digital and traditional mediums, and enjoys both. Loves the texture and tactility of paint... and the 'undo' button.
